MAEDA AI
(1931–1987)
   Maeda Ai, given name Yoshimi, was a literary critic and Japanese literary scholar. He completed his education at Tokyo University and taught at Rikkyo University. He published his groundbreaking critical study Toshi kukan no naka no bungaku (1982; tr. The Spirits of Abandoned Gardens, 1997) and wrote criticism on other themes, such as literary theory and semiotics.
